Two employers ordered to pay MPF

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 18) obtained an order for payment of outstanding MPF contributions owed to two employees at around $87,000 against one employer in the District Court. MPFA today also pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $32,000 on behalf of one employee, who was owed MPF contributions by his employer.

     The District Court today issued a judgment against one employer, namely, So Yuen Shing trading as Shui Yuen. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $87,293.46, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to two employees of the defendant.

     At the Tribunal's hearing today, the defendant, Court Jonathan William trading as Linbeck & Rausch (HK) Lighting Consultants, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered him to pay the MPFA the sums of $32,601.63, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts, awarded at both the District Court and the Tribunal, will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $930 for the District Court case, $170 for the Tribunal case as costs in respect of the claims.
