More e-channels and 24-hour operation for Lok Ma Chau
*****************************************************

The Immigration Department announced today (April 1) that five more passenger e-channels had been activated at the arrival hall of Lok Ma Chau control point.

With the re-opening of six departure e-channels, the total number of passenger e-channels in Lok Ma Chau is now 17, and will continue to increase gradually. The passenger e-channels will be open to the public 24 hours from 7am today.

Hong Kong permanent residents and holders of Documents of Identity for Visa Purposes (aged 11 or above) holding smart identity cards may use them to perform self-service clearance.

The spokesman also reminded passengers that if their thumbs were unclean, too dry or too moist, the fingerprint scanner's ability to read their thumbprints could be affected. Travellers should make sure their thumbs are clean before entering the e-channel. In the case of too much dryness, a wet tissue should be used to dampen the thumb. If the thumb is too moist, it should be wiped with a dry tissue.
