***********************************************************

The Financial Secretary, Mr Henry Tang, has called on people to take better care of their MPF investment to add value to their future.

Mr Tang made the call today (March 27) at a TV Infotainment Show on MPF co-organised by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) and HK TVB.

The TV Show is one of the key activities of the MPF Investment Education Campaign  organised by the MPFA. The campaign, through a series of activities and multi-media programmes, aims at enhancing scheme members' investment knowledge, reinforcing public understanding of the MPF System, and enhancing public awareness of the importance of early planning and investment for retirement.

At the launch ceremony of today's TV Show, Mr Tang, with MPFA Chairman Mr Charles Lee Yeh-kwong, MPFA Managing Director Mrs Diana Chan, MPFA Management Board Members, and "MPF Ambassador" Mr Chan Wing Luk watered a "Tree of MPF" to symbolise the growth of MPF investment.

In a sharing session with programme hostess Do Do Cheng,  Mr Tang said he was prudent in both public and personal finance.  He believed that efficient investment in personal finance would result in more savings for retirement.

Mr Tang also shared with the audience his ideal retirement life, which was a trinity of family, friends and funds.  "A spouse will provide mutual support in retirement; sharing mutual interests and hobbies with friends will add fun to retirement; and sufficient funds will ensure a hassle-free retirement," he said.

"Since MPF provides basic retirement protection for the working population, and is part of our retirement funds, we should know more about MPF investment and choose the right investment portfolio according to one¡¯s own risk tolerance level and investment objective."

At the show, "MPF Ambassador" Mr Chan provided some tips for MPF investment and reminded scheme members of the importance of early retirement planning.

Prominent artistes and singers appeared at the TV Show and participated in an MPF quiz game to help educate the public on MPF investment knowledge.

The Show will be broadcast on TVB-Jade at 11pm to 11.30pm on April 6, 2006 (Thursday).
"The MPF Investment Education Campaign, the slogan of which is ¡°Look after your MPF investment - Add value to your future", was launched in October, 2005. In the past few months, publicity and education events and activities, including exhibitions, district carnivals and multi-media programmes, have been organised.

Please visit the MPFA Website www.mpfahk.org or call the MPFA hotline on 2918 0102 to learn more about the campaign and its events.
