Recruitment forum offers 4,000 vacancies

    The Labour Department will stage a two-day recruitment forum next Monday and Tuesday (March 13 and 14) at Kwai Tsing Theatre, offering about 4,000 vacancies.

     The recruitment forum will be held from 11am to 5pm at Exhibition Hall, first floor, Kwai Tsing Theatre, 12 Hing Ning Road, Kwai Chung. Admission is free.

     Fifteen companies will set up recruitment booths at the venue on each day of the event for on-the-spot job applications and will provide about 3,000 vacancies.  

     Special panels will also be mounted to display about 1,000 vacancies offered by another 27 companies. Job-seekers are welcome to submit applications to these companies direct.

     The participating companies come from various trades and industries, including retail, catering, property management, information technology, hotel and laboratory testing.

     The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions.  There are a lot of vacancies of frontline positions such as shopkeeper, sales person, sales representative, customer service officer, receptionist, cashier, waiter/waitress, restaurant captain, club officer, security guard and bell attendant; clerical posts such as accounting clerk, administration clerk and laboratory assistant; professional/technical posts such as engineer, technician, cook of various rank and repair technician. In addition, there are managerial positions like shop manager, restaurant manager, operation manager, sales manager and accountant. Other vacancies such as storekeeper, production line operators, cleaner, motorbike courier and general worker are also available.

     Ninety per cent of the jobs offer a monthly salary ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.  Most of these vacancies require Form 5 educational level or below. About 60% of them are open to job-seekers without relevant work experience. Job-seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews.
 
     Career talks on employment opportunities of individual companies will be held on Tuesday. The department will also conduct on-the-spot job-seeking registration.

     A list of the participating companies and the vacancies offered has been uploaded onto the Labour Department's website. Interested job-seekers may visit the website at www.jobs.gov.hk.
