Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment
***************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 9) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $12,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by his employer.

The defendant, Yat Wah R.M.C. Geotechnology Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA  $11,920.94, being mandatory contribution in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further awarded a payment of $180 as the cost of the claim.
