Force contributes to HK's stability and prosperity (with photos)

     The Police Force has committed to maintain the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, the Commander-in-chief of the Chinese People﷿s Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr Tan Benhong, said when inspecting a passing-out parade of the Hong Kong Police College today (July 9).

     Addressing the ceremony, Mr Tan said, 䩕The rule of law is one of the core values of Hong Kong, and that the Police Force is always one of the unwavering guardians of this value. Since Hong Kong﷿s return to the Motherland, the Force has committed to supporting the HKSAR Government in administering Hong Kong in accordance with the law, and fully implementing the ﷿One Country, Two Systems﷿ principle and the Basic Law for the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.蒅

     He pointed out that in the face of a fluctuating political and social environment in recent years, the Police Force has acted in strict accordance with the law to resolve different challenges, including the Occupy Movement, the Mong Kok riot and the problem of illegal immigration, as well as to combat various criminal activities. The Force won general respect and applause by playing a key role in safeguarding people﷿s interest and maintaining social development, he said.

     Noting that the Hong Kong Garrison and the Police Force have all along maintained a good relationship, Mr Tan hoped that more communications and exchanges between the two forces could make a better future of Hong Kong. He also encouraged the graduates to rise to the challenges ahead and continue to uphold the motto of 䩕Serving the community with pride and care蒅 for the rule of law of the city and the safety of the people.

     A total of 34 probationary inspectors and 239 recruit constables passed out today.
