The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance today (April 22) alerted the public to a fraudulent website (http://winglungins.com) that purports to be the official website of an authorised insurer in Hong Kong, Wing Lung Insurance Company Limited (Wing Lung Insurance). Wing Lung Insurance has confirmed that it has no connection with the fraudulent website.
The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the website or has conducted any insurance transactions through it should contact Wing Lung Insurance via its hotline at 2309 5555, the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012 or any local police station.
Any company conducting insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorised by the Insurance Authority under the Insurance Companies Ordinance (Cap. 41).
