Australian Fintech company Austreme announced today (April 11) that it is establishing regional headquarters in Hong Kong, paving the way for its global expansion in the coming years.

Founded in 2011 in Australia, Austreme specialises in brand protection, big data and website security, offering the banking and finance industries a series of solutions related to e-commerce sites, payment card transactions and associated activities. It includes helping clients to perform background check of online merchants; monitor the product listings on online business-to-business marketplaces and combat counterfeits; and forestall infringement from fraudulent bank websites, phishing emails and scams.

According to Founder Mr Terence Chau, the establishment of the regional headquarters in Hong Kong is a strategic move for the company to get access to the global Fintech market. "The new regional headquarters will not only cater to the needs of Hong Kong clients but also support the company's offices being planned in the Mainland, the US and Europe. We have also launched our Centre of Excellence in Hong Kong to enhance our efforts in global brand protection and transaction laundering detection with more analysts to be recruited and trained," he said.

He added, "Hong Kong is well connected with the global financial world and hence plays a critical role in the financial market reform of the Mainland. The city also has a very strong advantage for wide adaptation of Internet transactions across many sectors. These make it an ideal foothold for our company to introduce to global clients our state-of-the-art security, risk, compliance and fraud management solutions much needed for credit card transactions and related proceedings."

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Charles Ng said, "Fintech improves consumer experiences in managing their finances and helps financial institutions improve their operational efficiency. We are ready to support more overseas Fintech companies to set up or expand in the city and promote Hong Kong as one of fastest-growing Fintech hubs in the world."
