Contractor fined for violation of safety legislation

Gammon Construction Limited was fined $160,000 at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts today (January 18) for violation of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on September 23, 2011, at Chek Lap Kok. A worker fell onto a protruding steel rebar and was impaled while dismantling the formwork of a parapet.
