Following is a statement issued on behalf of Mr Justice Andrew Chan Hing-wai, Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court, on the appointments to the Commission of Inquiry into Excess Lead found in Drinking Water:
In accepting our appointments as Chairman and Commissioners of the Commission of Inquiry, Mr Alan Lai and I are fully aware of the great concern of the community over the safety of drinking water in Hong Kong.
We will ensure that our inquiry will be open and thorough and we will do our utmost in discharging our duties. We will report to the Chief Executive within the time period requested of us.
