The Super 18 Hong Kong Island Carnival will be held on Sunday (July 5) at the soccer pitches at Victoria Park. Admission is free and members of the public are invited to join and spend a relaxing and joyful Sunday with their families.
A variety of booth games will be held from 2pm to 6pm in three game zones of the carnival, namely Kidsland, Adventureland and Merryland.
In Kidsland, game booths tailor-made for children aged 12 years or below will be set up, including a graffiti wall, a bouncy castle, an inflatable climbing wall, face painting, bowling and mini-golf.
Adventurous youngsters should not miss the climbing wall, the maze and the laser war game in Adventureland.
Merryland, featuring booth games, DIY handicrafts stalls and art jamming activities for family enjoyment, will allow parents and their children to make their own unique and creative sand bottles, pinwheels and paintings.
Apart from the exciting games in the three game zones, participants can also enjoy a wide range of stage performances including lion dance, artistic rope skipping and an orchestra at the carnival.
The launch ceremony and the celebrity variety show will start at 6.15pm. Those officiating at the ceremony will include the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing; the Acting Director of Home Affairs, Mr Jack Chan; the District Officer (Eastern), Ms Anne Teng; the District Officer (Central and Western), Miss Cheryl Chow; the District Officer (Southern), Mr Chow Chor-tim; and the District Officer (Wan Chai), Miss Angela Luk. Local artistes including Joey Tang and Patrick Lui of Tai Chi, Hubert Wu, Hoffman Cheng, Corinna Chamberlain and Birds of Paradise as well as Mainland soprano Zhou Xuan and Korean pop groups MADTOWN and Two X will present songs and performances after the ceremony.
The Super 18 Hong Kong Island Carnival is the finale of a series of the large-scale activities lined up by the Home Affairs Department under the theme of Our 18 Districts.
