To complement the exhibition "The Labyrinth of Film Scripting", the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold two seminars at the HKFA Cinema. Experienced Hong Kong scriptwriters have been invited to share their valuable experiences in screenwriting during the seminars, which will be conducted in Cantonese with free admission.
The seminar entitled "From Gags to Sitcoms - Writing Jokes vs Designing Comedy Scenes" will be held at 11am on July 11 (Saturday), with the Chairman of the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild, Lam Chiu-wing, and renowned director-screenwriter Chan Hing-kai as speakers. When screenwriters write a comedy, situations and dialogues are created as comedic sketches. The speakers will share their experiences in comedy screenwriting and illustrate how gags and sitcoms amuse audiences in different ways.
Another seminar entitled "The Alchemy of Hong Kong Film Style - Individual vs Collective Creation" will be held at 11am on July 12 (Sunday), with the Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Screenwriters' Guild, Cheung Chi-sing, and screenwriter and film critic Lam Kee-to as speakers. Nurtured under different circumstances, the two speakers have developed their own unique styles in screenwriting and will discuss the alchemy behind the creation of a Hong Kong film script.
The exhibition "The Labyrinth of Film Scripting" is being held at the Exhibition Hall of the HKFA until July 26 to showcase local renowned scriptwriters' priceless film manuscripts, together with multimedia installations, scriptwriters' interviews and film footage selections. Admission is free.
