Impartiality, integrity, political neutrality, professionalism and not abusing power are the key elements to maintain public trust in and respect to the Force, the Chairman of Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service, Ms Teresa Ko, said when inspecting a passing-out parade of the Hong Kong Police College today (November 15).
䩕It is up to each and every one of you to maintain this high standard and to live up to the vision of the Force, to uphold its good reputation and image, to work with your colleagues as a team and to serve the public with pride and care,蒅 Ms Ko said.
She noted that families and friends of the graduates as well as members of the public were proud of their determination to uphold law and order and ensure Hong Kong as one of the safest cities in the world.
Ms Ko also gave special thanks to all family members for their support to the graduates. 䩕Recently, the challenges and pressures on the Police, especially the frontline Police, are immense. Understanding from your family and friends of your choice to join the Force is important,蒅 she said.
Given the increasing complexities in the society and the diverse interests of the citizens, she said that graduates would face a lot of challenges at work. They were encouraged to pursue lifelong learning and not to fail the trust of the public.
A total of 50 probationary inspectors and 222 recruit constables passed out today.
