The Hospital Authority (HA) today (May 8) announced its Outstanding Staff and Teams Award for 2014, with six staff members and seven health-care teams from different disciplines of HA hospitals and the Head Office being awarded (the list of awardees is appended). Their outstanding work performance for provision of quality patient-centred care, enhancing team spirit and collaboration, and improving operational effectiveness of the organisation were highly commended.
The HA has been organising this annual Award since 1993 as a corporate-wide staff reward and recognition programme to recognise the significant contributions made by staff members and teams. This is the 21st year of the award programme.
The HA Chairman, Professor John Leong, said at the presentation ceremony, "All staff and team awardees are highly commendable for their accomplishments and contributions to the HA and the community. They fully demonstrated professionalism, loving care to patients and excellent team spirit. I would like to express my gratitude to all award winners. The HA is always proud of you and I wish all of you every success in the future."
The 2014 Outstanding Staff and Team Award Selection Panel was chaired by Professor Diana Lee, who is also a member of the Human Resources Committee of the HA. Professor Lee also addressed the ceremony today.
"During the selection process, we had a chance to listen to staff members of different positions share their remarkable stories at work. We appreciate such a golden opportunity to deepen our understanding of the operations of various units and departments in the HA. The selection panel would like to thank all participating colleagues," she said.
Other members of the Selection Panel were the HA Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin; HA Board Member Ms Winnie Ng; the Kowloon Central Cluster Chief Executive, Dr Albert Lo; the HA Head of Human Resources, Dr Theresa Li; and past award winner Senior Radiographer of Queen Mary Hospital Ms Anna Mak.
