Taiwan's Anarchy Dance Theatre (ADT) and the interactive and new media design studio Ultra Combos will visit Hong Kong in June to stage a multimedia dance production titled "Seventh Sense".
Combining new media and dance, "Seventh Sense" focuses on building up a new viewer-centred performance. Some members of the audience may share the same space with dancers and experience the interaction among the dancers, themselves and the environment. Dancers' and audience members' movements can interact through visual effects. Audiences will not merely watch the astonishing visual effects but actively participate in this boundless physical-digital environment, as well as experiencing the moment.
Founded in 2010, ADT uses contemporary dance to express concerns about people and life by reproducing through movement the intricate power structures and personal relationships in today's social hierarchies. With the dancers, audiences, interactivity, theatre and environment as main elements in its works, ADT strives to explore the relationships among time, space, objects and others to produce an entirely new performance space. ADT calls upon the choreographer's distinct ways of handling the relationships among these elements to create a dance vocabulary ADT calls its own. Its aim is to explore an expressionistic dance style of its time.
Ultra Combos is an interactive and new media design studio founded in 2010. With interactive technology and innovative ideas, the studio professionally combines visual arts design and interactive programmes into its creative projects.
"Seventh Sense" is one of the programmes in the "Dance x Multimedia" series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
