The Legislative Council Finance Committee (FC) today (November 15) approved the Government funding proposal of seeking a supplementary provision of $40 million to enable an injection into the Disaster Relief Fund to address the need for grants for providing emergency relief to the typhoon victims in the Philippines, and to meet other possible calls for grants to relief organisations for disaster relief in the remainder of the 2013-2014 financial year.
The FC members also approved the creation of a new commitment of $18.8 million for providing a one-off subsidy to assist private refuse collection vehicle owners to retrofit their vehicles for meeting the new equipment standards.
Meanwhile, the item related to land acquisition is still under deliberation.
