The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, has appointed Ms Mary Ma Xuezheng and re-appointed Mr Lawrence Lee Kam-hung as non-executive directors of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive. The appointment and re-appointment are for a term of two years from November 15, 2013.
Ms Ma is Chairman of Boyu Capital Advisory Company Limited. Mr Lee is Chairman of the Hong Kong, PRC, Vietnam and Korea offices of Baker & McKenzie.
Making the announcement today (November 14), a Government spokesman said, "Mr Lee has contributed to the promotion of good corporate governance of the SFC during his tenure. We look forward to his continued support for the work of the SFC. Ms Ma has a wealth of experience and expertise in the financial services sector. We believe that she will provide valuable contribution to the work of the SFC."
The spokesman added, "We would also like to thank the outgoing non-executive director, Mr Chan Kam-lam. During his service as a non-executive director of the SFC over the past six years, Mr Chan has been instrumental in enhancing the corporate governance, accountability and transparency of the SFC. We look forward to his continued support in the further development of our financial services sector."
The SFC is chaired by Mr Carlson Tong. Other serving non-executive directors are Professor Leonard Cheng Kwok-hon, Mr Anderson Chow Ka-ming, Ms Teresa Ko Yuk-yin, Dr Kelvin Wong Tin-yau and Mr Wong Kai-man.
