FEHD orders restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for two weeks
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the business area.

The restaurant, located at shops 13 and 14 on the ground floor of Phase 2 of Hing Fook Building at No. 8 Man Hop Path, was ordered to suspend business from today (August 29) to September 11.

"In December last year and February this year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $11,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in June and October last year. A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in January this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled. He also reminded members of the public to co-operate with FEHD officers when they are taking enforcement actions against food premises.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
