The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, conveyed his congratulations to young Hong Kong athletes today (August 23) for winning 20 medals, comprising two gold, five silver and 13 bronze, in the 2nd Asian Youth Games held in Nanjing.
Mr Tsang applauded the outstanding performance of the athletes. "We are proud of our young athletes who have devoted themselves wholeheartedly to sport. They have dedicated themselves to years of disciplined training, hard work and sacrifice. I would also like to express my gratitude to the coaches, working staff, schools and parents of the athletes," Mr Tsang said. He encouraged the athletes to continue to strive for excellence.
The Hong Kong delegation, comprising some 100 young athletes aged 14 to 17, competed in 12 sports, namely aquatics (swimming and diving), athletics, badminton, fencing, football, golf, handball, judo, rugby, squash, table tennis and tennis.
