The Labour Department will hold the Wan Chai Recruitment and Training Expo at Southorn Stadium on March 13 and 14.
A total of 100 organisations will participate in the expo. Ninety organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment on the event days. Ten training organisations will provide information on training courses to participants.
These recruiting organisations mainly come from the retail, catering and transport industries. About 5 600 vacancies are offered, covering a wide variety of positions such as security officer, warehouse worker, customer services officer, telemarketer, technician, driver, storekeeper, cook, kitchen helper, waiter/waitress, bar assistant, shop assistant, security guard and cleaner. Job seekers who want to know more about the vacancies may visit the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
Over 80 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. The majority of them offer monthly salaries ranging from $6,000 to $11,000. About 98 per cent of these vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 67 per cent are open to job seekers without relevant experience.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. The Labour Department will also conduct on-the-spot registration for job seekers.
The expo will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Southorn Stadium, 1/F, 111 Johnston Road, Wan Chai (MTR Wan Chai Station Exit A3). Admission is free.
