The "Hong Kong 2011 Population Census Main Report", compiled based on the results of the 2011 Population Census, has been published today (November 27).
The "Main Report" consists of two separate volumes: Volume I presents detailed analysis and interpretation of the results of the 2011 Population Census in respect of specific topics such as the demographic, household, education, economic and housing characteristics of the population. A general account of the findings in respect of various topics is provided together with supporting tables and charts. Comparisons are made with results of the past censuses and by-censuses as appropriate. Volume II describes the design, data collection method, operation procedures and techniques of the Census. An assessment of the data quality of the Census is also presented in Volume II.
Data users can download this publication free of charge at the website of the Census and Statistics Department (www.censtatd.gov.hk/hkstat/sub/sp170.jsp).
Comprehensive information was collected in the 2011 Population Census. Results of the Census are available in a number of publications that have been released, including the Summary Results, the Thematic Report on Household Income Distribution and the Graphic Guide. A series of other thematic reports concerning population sub-groups, such as persons from the Mainland having resided in Hong Kong for less than seven years, ethnic minorities, youths and more, will be published at a later stage. Users may download more census results free of charge from the website of the 2011 Population Census (www.census2011.gov.hk/en/census-result.html), including a set of main tables and fact sheets for individual districts.
