Hongkong Post today (November 25) announced that a new stamp issue on the theme of "Congratulations on the Outstanding Achievements of Hong Kong Paralympians in the London 2012 Paralympic Games" in a Heartwarming Stamps mini-pane, together with associated philatelic products, will be released for sale from December 13.
For the 11th consecutive Olympiad since 1972, Hong Kong participated in the London 2012 Paralympic Games. A total of 28 athletes took part in seven sports, namely, athletics, boccia, equestrianism, shooting, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair fencing. The Hong Kong delegation achieved remarkable results with three gold, three silver and six bronze medals, exemplifying the can-do spirit of Hong Kong people in sports.
Hongkong Post is pleased to issue a mini-pane and a souvenir cover to commemorate the accomplishments of the Hong Kong delegation at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The mini-pane features Hong Kong athletes in action during the Games and touching moments at the medal presentation ceremonies, while the souvenir cover depicts the entrance of the Hong Kong delegation during the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Official Souvenir Covers will be on sale at $8 each at all post offices from November 29. The Heartwarming Stamps mini-pane and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from November 29 to December 5.
