A fire broke out at Chung Hing Mansion, 981A-981F King's Road, Quarry Bay, yesterday (November 14). The fire involved a 25-storey composite commercial/residential building. Thirty residential units were damaged by fire and the light well from the first to 20th floors was also severely damaged.
The fire broke out at 9.57pm last night. It was upgraded to a No. 3 alarm at 10.09pm and a No. 4 alarm at 10.50pm. The fire was surrounded at 2.38am this morning (November 15) and was largely put out at 2.52am.
Firemen used 17 jets and 22 breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze. Twenty-five people were led to safety.
Seven people were overcome by smoke and another one was injured in the fire. They were sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment. Two of them have been treated and discharged and the rest are in stable condition.
Investigation is continuing.
