CS continues visit to Beijing (with photos/video)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, continued her visit programme in Beijing today (September 24) by paying courtesy calls on the Ministry of Health, the Beijing Municipal Government, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

     During the meeting with the Vice Minister of Health, Professor Huang Jiefu, Mrs Lam exchanged views on medical collaboration and how to cope with the health-care needs of Hong Kong people in the Mainland. She subsequently met Beijing's Vice Mayor, Mr Li Shixiang, during her courtesy call on the Beijing Municipal Government.

     Mrs Lam attended a lunch hosted by the Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Wang Guangya. Mrs Lam took the opportunity to express the concern of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government over parallel traders and the hope that the Mainland authorities would take enforcement action accordingly.

     This was followed by a meeting with the Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, Mr Zhang Xiaoqiang. The two sides exchanged views on issues including the National 12th Five-Year Plan and how to complement each other by leveraging on respective strengths in the course of development.

     Mrs Lam also called on the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Cui Tiankai. She thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their support to the HKSAR Government on Hong Kong's participation in international conferences and events and overseas Chinese embassies and consulates for providing support and assistance to Hong Kong people in distress overseas.

     Tomorrow (September 25), Mrs Lam will continue her visit by calling on the National Bureau of Statistics and the All-China Women's Federation, as well as visiting the Palace Museum.
