JOBS GO-GO-GOAL helps secondary school graduates find jobs
**********************************************************

     A special tailor-made service package, JOBS GO-GO-GOAL, was launched by the Labour Department (LD) in May 2012 to cater for the pre-employment training and employment needs of Form Six and Form Seven graduates in the 2012 double-cohort year. The service package will assist them in obtaining the latest employment information, devising career plans and enhancing their employability.

     A spokesperson for the department said today (July 19) that following the release of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education results tomorrow and the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination results in June, some graduates this year would consider entering the employment market. In the coming weeks, JOBS GO-GO-GOAL will continue to organise different types of activities to assist graduates in equipping themselves for work and finding suitable jobs.

     Job fairs that will help graduates secure the latest employment information and find jobs include:

* Five consecutive recruitment days from July 23 to 27 will be held at the LD's Hong Kong East Job Centre and the two Recruitment Centres for the Catering Industry and the Retail Industry to provide over 2 000 diversified job vacancies and convenient employment services;

* Job fairs for young people will be staged by the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme and Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme (YPTP&YWETS) from July 24 to August 2, including recruitment days for tailor-made training-cum employment projects, on-the-job training posts and a job fair co-organised with a training body; and

* The Hong Kong International Airport Job Expo 2012, co-organised with the Airport Authority Hong Kong at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will be held from August 3 to 5. Vacancies offered by over 50 employers at the Expo will cover a wide variety of positions. Some vacancies require Form 7 education level or below and are open to job seekers without relevant experience.

     In addition, to assist graduates in enhancing their presentation skills, improve their skills for job interviews and exploring their own career interests, the LD's Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.) will continue to stage the following special programmes:

* Arranging for graduates to visit Y.E.S. to experience its facilities and services for career consultation and career assessment; and

* The launch of "Think Big@Summer ﷿ Self-employment Experience Days" at MegaBox in Kowloon Bay on August 17 to 18. Stalls in the shopping centre are reserved for selected secondary students interested in pursuing a self-employed career. Participants will get practical experience in running a stall.

     Moreover, the LD will organise the Most Improved Trainee Award Ceremony 2012 cum concert, named "Solar Project 2012 ﷿ Dream Journey with YPTP&YWETS", in collaboration with Radio 2 of Radio Television Hong Kong at Queen Elizabeth Stadium on August 22. Pop singers in the event will encourage graduates reach for their dreams.

     Please refer to the appendix for details of the events. Latest information will be uploaded to the JOBS GO-GO-GOAL dedicated webpage at www.jobs.gov.hk/gogogoal. Graduates can also browse vacancies on the webpage and apply for jobs according to their needs and interests. Enquiries on details of the activities can be made on the LD's 24-hour hotline 2717 1771 (handled by the 1823 Call Centre).
