Second phase of advance tickets for Picasso exhibition to go on sale tomorrow
************************************************************

Since the opening of "PICASSO - Masterpieces from Musンe National Picasso, Paris" five days ago, about 20,000 visitors have visited this talk-of-the-town exhibition being held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

With the second phase of advance tickets going on sale tomorrow (May 25), a spokesperson for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (May 24) urged members of the public who wish to secure admission to the exhibition on weekends or public holidays to purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

"Tickets for the first two days of the exhibition were all snapped up before the exhibition was formally opened on May 19," the spokesperson said, adding that all tickets for the coming two weekends - May 26 and 27, and June 2 and 3 - also sold out.

"The second-phase tickets, covering the exhibition period from June 9 to 29, will be on sale from tomorrow through various advance ticket sales channels. Visitors should not miss this chance if they want to secure tickets for the popular sessions on weekends. There are five sessions daily on weekends, with each session lasting two hours.

"Those who want to avoid the busy weekends and have more time to appreciate the master's art works are recommended to visit the exhibition on weekdays, during which each session lasts for three to four hours.

"For better scheduling, we advise visitors to check the availability of tickets on the website of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum before visiting the museum. Any sold-out sessions will be listed on the website, which is being updated twice daily," the spokesperson said.

Unsold tickets in the first phase (until June 8) can still be purchased through the advance ticket sales channels.

Advance tickets for the Picasso exhibition are available through all URBTIX outlets, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's box office, Internet booking via URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk) and credit card telephone booking (hotline: 2111 5999).

For the latest updates on sold-out sessions, please visit the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's website at www.heritagemuseum.gov.hk/eng/exhibitions/exhibition_details.aspx?exid=189, or call the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (Tel: 2180 8188) or URBTIX (Tel: 2734 9009) for enquiries.

"PICASSO - Masterpieces from Musンe National Picasso, Paris" runs from May 19 to July 22. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is open daily from 10am to 8pm except for Tuesday when the museum is closed. There are three viewing sessions on weekdays and five on weekends and public holidays:

* The three viewing sessions on weekdays are: 10am-1pm, 1pm-5pm and 5pm-8pm

* The five viewing sessions on weekends and public holidays are: 10am-noon, noon-2pm, 2pm-4pm, 4pm-6pm and 6pm-8pm

The admission fee for the exhibition is set at $20. Visitors using a Picasso exhibition ticket can also visit other exhibition galleries in the museum for free. Children under 4 years old are entitled to free admission. As this is a special exhibition, free admission on Wednesdays and concession tickets are not applicable. LCSD museum pass holders are required to present their museum pass for redemption of admission vouchers for entry to the exhibition. Vouchers will be available for redemption on a first-come, first-served basis at the museum 15 minutes before each viewing session.

Schools and registered charitable and non-profit-making organisations that are planning group visits with a minimum of 20 persons can apply in writing for free admission. Application forms can be downloaded from the Hong Kong Heritage Museum's website.

Co-presented by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and the LCSD, the exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the Musンe National Picasso, Paris. It is one of the highlight cultural events to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the 20th edition of Le French May.

The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is located at 1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin, New Territories. Limited paid car parking is available at the museum. Members of the public who make use of public transport may take the MTR Ma On Shan Line and get off at Che Kung Temple Station, which is within three minutes' walk of the museum.
