The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
It has come to the attention of the Legislative Council Select Committee to Study Mr Leung Chun-ying's Involvement as a Member of the Jury in the West Kowloon Reclamation Concept Plan Competition and Related Issues (the Select Committee) that two local newspapers published today (May 23) reports concerning the work of the Select Committee. Those reports appeared to have disclosed the contents of the Select Committee's draft report and details of the Select Committee's internal deliberations. The Select Committee expresses grave concern about the matter. As the Select Committee is still at the stage of drafting its report, it has yet to finalise its views on the matters under study. In order not to prejudice the impartiality of the work of the Select Committee and bring unfairness to the witnesses concerned, the Select Committee hereby makes this statement for the purpose of clarification.
