Proprietor fined for violation of safety rules

Kone Elevator (HK) Limited was fined $45,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Court today (May 23) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on November 17, 2010, in Quarry Bay, in which a worker was trapped to death between the lift door and the lift shaft wall while conducting cable replacement work on the top of a lift car.
