The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in April showed a drop of 753 cases compared to March, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (May 23).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of April stood at 274,630 (see attached table), with a total of 437,497 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings and unemployment cases both registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.2 per cent to 11,621 and 25,778 cases respectively. Single parent and old age cases also dropped by 0.2 per cent to 32,503 and 153,936 cases respectively.
Permanent disability cases showed a decrease of 0.1 per cent to 18,353 cases.
Ill-health cases registered an increase of 0.1 per cent to 25,296 cases.
