Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tuen Mun this morning (January 20) in which a 31-year-old male light goods vehicle (LGV) passenger was killed.
About 5.15am, a LGV driven by a 28-year-old man and a private car driven by a 41-year-old man were travelling along Yuen Long Highway towards Kowloon in sequence. When reaching Fu Tai Estate, the private car reportedly rammed into the LGV car from behind. The LGV then overturned.
The LGV driver and the 31-year-old male passenger onboard sustained injuries and were conveyed to Tuen Mun Hospital. The passenger, who sustained serious head injuries, was certified dead at 5.57am.
The private car driver, who failed to pass the screening breath test, was arrested for drink driving. He is still being detained for enquiries.
The case will be handover to the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North for investigation.
