Police will implement special traffic arrangements at Flower Market Road Area during and before the Lunar New Year period.
(A) Temporary road closures and traffic arrangements
The following road closures and traffic arrangements will be implemented from 8am on January 18 to 8am on January 23 and when necessary:
1. No vehicle will be allowed to access Flower Market Road, Yuen Ngai Street, Yuen Po Street and a section of Prince Edward Road West Service Road between Sai Yee Street and Embankment Road, except goods vehicles with permission for unloading activities from 12.01am to 5pm daily. Vehicles from westbound Prince Edward Road West are not allowed to turn right to northbound Sai Yee Street.
2. Subject to the prevailing traffic situation, the following roads may be closed before 8am on January 18:
- The sections of Flower Market Road, Yuen Ngai Street, Yuen Po Street and Prince Edward Road West Service Road;
- A section of Sai Yee Street and a section of Fa Yuen Street between Prince Edward Road West and Boundary Street;
- A section of Playing Field Road between Tung Choi Street and Sai Yee Street; and
- A section of Prince Edward Road West Service Road between Sai Yee Street and Nathan Road.
(B) Temporary Suspension of bus and green minibus (GMB) stops
- The bus and GMB stops outside 191 Prince Edward Road West will be suspended from 6pm on January 21 to 6am the following day, and from 2pm on January 22 to 7am the following day; and
- The bus and GMB stops on Tung Choi Street outside Mong Kok Police Station will be suspended and temporarily relocated to 225 Tung Choi Street between Playing Field Road and Boundary Street from 6pm on January 21 to 7am on January 23.
(C) Temporary Suspension of Taxi Stand
The taxi stand on Fa Yuen Street near Prince Edward Road West Service Road will be suspended from 8am on January 18 to 8am on January 23 and designated as temporary pick-up and drop-off point.
(D) Temporary Suspension of Parking Spaces
1. The meter parking spaces at the section of Tung Choi Street between Prince Edward Road West Service Road and Boundary Street will be suspended from noon on January 18 to 8am on January 23;
2. The meter parking spaces at the section of Fa Yuen Street between Prince Edward Road West Service Road and Boundary Street will be suspended from 8am on January 18 to 8am on January 23;
3. The meter parking spaces at the section of Playing Field Road between Tung Choi Street and Sai Yee Street will be suspended from 3pm on January 22 to 8am the following day;
4. The motorcycle parking spaces on Tung Choi Street near Playing Field Road will be suspended from noon on January 18 to 8am on January 23;
5. The motorcycle parking spaces at the following locations will be suspended from 8am on January 22 to 8am the following day:
(a) A section of Playing Field Road between Tung Choi Street and Fa Yuen Street; and
(b) A section of Prince Edward Road West Service Road between Tung Choi Street and Sai Yee Street;
6. The disabled parking spaces on Fa Yuen Street near Boundary Street will be suspended from 8am on January 18 to 8am on January 23; and
7. The disabled parking spaces on Playing Field Road near Tung Choi Street will be suspended from 8am on January 22 to 8am the following day.
(E) Entry/Exit at MTR Prince Edward Station
Subject to prevailing crowd flow in and out of MTR Prince Edward Station on January 22, a pedestrian flow system will be implemented as follows:
Exit A (Playing Field Road junction with Nathan Road) and Exit B1 (Nathan Road junction with Prince Edward Road West) will be used for exit only. Members of the public wishing to go to the Fa Hui Park Market Fair are advised to leave Prince Edward Station via Exit A and B1 and proceed northward along Nathan Road to Boundary Street.
Entrance B2 (Prince Edward Road West junction with Sai Yeung Choi Street South) will be used for entry only. Members of the public who wish to access Prince Edward Station from the Flower Market and the Fa Hui Park Market Fair via Prince Edward Road West should use Entrance B2 or by using Entrance C1 and C2.
The Police remind citizens wishing to shop on Flower Market Road area to do their shopping as early as possible, and to follow Police instructions at scene.
