Man jailed for assaulting Hawker Control Officer

A 46-year-old man was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (November 11) for assaulting a Hawker Control Officer of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD).
During an operation against unlicensed hawkers at On Cheung Road in Tai Po on August 5 this year, the man assaulted a Hawker Control Officer after failing to stop the officer from seizing goods abandoned by hawkers.
An FEHD spokesman urged members of the public to co-operate with law enforcement officers in the exercise of their duties, adding that using force against public officers carried legal consequences.
