Five nanyin concerts to be held in December

     Three nanyin artists will collaborate with a group of Chinese music performers to give five performances of "Nanyin Concert - Those Lamentable Bygone Days" next month.

     Renowned nanyin singers, Ng Wing-mui, Tong Siu-yin and Leung Hoi-li, will perform an array of nanyin masterpieces, including "Li Qingzhao", "Love's Yearning", "Qin Xianglian's Reproach for Chen Shimei", "Nocturnal Lament" and "A Wanderer's Autumn Grief", to the accompaniment of a Chinese music ensemble. The ensemble will include To Wing (yehu), Chen Xiaohua and Lee King-chi (zheng), Ho Kang-ming (pipa), Law Kai-kei (qinqin), Chan Pik-sum (gaohu) and Chan Chi-chun (xiao). The ensemble will also perform well known pieces of Cantonese music at each concert. All performances are supplemented with Chinese surtitles and an English synopsis.      "Nanyin Concert - Those Lamentable Bygone Days" is one of the programmes in the Nan Lian Garden Chinese music series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Tickets ranging in price from $100 to $220 are now available at URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by credit card telephone booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minder, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A maximum discount of 20 per cent is offered for the Nan Lian Garden Chinese music series package.
