Police will launch a territory-wide campaign to promote school transport safety from tomorrow (August 29) to September 2 to tie in with the start of the new school year.
During the five-day publicity campaign, Police officers from Regional Road Safety Teams will distribute publicity leaflets to drivers of school buses and nanny vans, as well as teachers and parents to draw their attention to transport safety of students. School bus drivers will be reminded to use low gear and ancillary braking system when driving along downhill slopes. Police officers will also visit schools to deliver talks on safety of travelling on school buses.
According to the School Transport Safety Rules, drivers of school buses or nanny vans should take necessary precautions to ensure passenger safety.
