The Government announced today (August 19) the appointment of four new members and the re-appointment of six incumbent members to the Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee (the Committee) for a term of two years with effect from September 1.
The four new members are Mr David Chan Wai-ming, Mr Nelson Cheng Wai-hung, Mr Suen Lai-sang and Ms Connie Wong Wai-ching.
Mr David Chan Wai-ming is a member of the Tsuen Wan District Council and the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund Committee. He has been extensively involved in community service.
Mr Nelson Cheng Wai-hung is the Director of KL Partnership Limited and a Visiting Professor of the Department of Architecture of the University of Hong Kong. He has rich experience in surveying and project management.
Mr Suen Lai-sang, an experienced social worker, is Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Christian Service and a member of the Guardianship Board.
Ms Connie Wong Wai-ching is a member of the Kowloon City District Council and the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee. She is highly committed to community service.
Six incumbent members, namely Dr Chan Wah-fat, Mr Chan Wai-to, Mrs Joanna Li Lau Lai-hing, Dr Anna Tang King-yung, Mr Yeung Yuet-bor and Mr Joseph Man Hung-yee, have been re-appointed.
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointments. He said, "The members come from a wide range of professions. Their expertise and experience will be conducive to the work of the Committee. I look forward to their valuable advice on the work of the Committee."
He also thanked the four outgoing members, Mr Chan Wing-lim, Mr Pau Shiu-hung, Dr John Yeung Hin-chung and Ms Constance Yue Mui-ying, for their sterling contributions during their tenure.
The Committee, chaired by the Director of Social Welfare, advises on applications from welfare organisations for allocations from the Lotteries Fund and on charitable fund-raising issues including the allocation of flag days.
