Appointment of directors of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited:
      
     The Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (HKCMCL) today (June 3) announced the appointment of two new non-Government directors and re-appointment of four serving non-Government directors to its board of directors.

     The new directors are Mr Peter Yan King-shun and Mr Douglas So. They are appointed for a term of two years starting from June 5, 2011.  Mr Yan is the Executive Director of Computer and Technologies Holdings Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Global e-Business Services Limited and Computer and Technologies Solutions Limited. He has rich experience and knowledge in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. Mr So is the Executive Director, Charities/General Counsel of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He is experienced in legal matters and corporate governance. Their rich experience in respective fields should be valuable to the HKCMCL Board.  

     The four re-appointed serving directors are Mr Anthony Au Wai-hung, Ms Winnie J Ng, Ms Wong Sau-ying and Mr George Hongchoy Kwok-lung. Mr Au and Ms Ng are re-appointed for one year while Ms Wong and Mr Hongchoy are re-appointed for two years.  Their tenures will start from June 5, 2011.

     With the new appointments and re-appointments, there are nine non-Government directors and two Government directors on the board.  HKCMCL believes that the new board comprises a good mix of expertise from the business community and the ICT industry.

     "We welcome the new directors.  With their vision, leadership and enthusiasm we will continue to work towards the attainment of Cyberport's mission of facilitating the local economy by nurturing ICT industry start-ups and entrepreneurs, driving collaboration to pool resources and create business opportunities, and promoting a digitally inclusive society through strategic initiatives and partnerships," a spokesman for the HKCMCL said.

     HKCMCL also expressed gratitude to the outgoing directors, Mr Rock Chen Chung-nin, Mr Chia Kok-onn and Mr Peter Liu Yun-kwan, for their valuable support and contribution to the Cyberport over the years.

     HKCMCL is one of the three private and wholly-owned companies set up by the Government under the Financial Secretary Incorporated to oversee the development, operation and management of the Cyberport Project. The Board of Directors provides policy and strategic guidance to HKCMCL on its business development, as well as oversight over corporate performance and governance.
