GayBird Leung to make experimental music in "Digital Hug"
*********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has invited musician of new media GayBird Leung to perform "Digital Hug" in June.

This is no Frankenstein, this is no Edward Scissorhands. But this is absolutely an experiment. "Digital Hug" is a hybrid experience that may open your heart to performances of new media and contemporary music using unconventional instruments.

GayBird Leung specialised in music composition at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and is now active in Hong Kong's pop music industry. He is a core member of the band PMPS and also experiments with making music from new media at the City University of Hong Kong. In this production, he will lead new media artists XEX Group, Henry Chu, Joseph Chan and Hamlet Lin to develop a series of unconventional musical instruments. Their performance with highly synchronised interactive technologies will involve machines, video, lighting and music.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Boundless Multi-media Series: Digital Hug - a new media music experiment [case 1]" (with some Cantonese commentary) will be staged at 8pm on June 10 and 11 (Friday and Saturday), at the Multi-media Theatre, HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity.  Tickets priced at $180 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by credit card telephone booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A maximum discount of 20% is offered for group booking and special booking. Please refer to the programme leaflet for details.
