The Government today (February 18) reminded residents that the amber outbound travel alert (OTA) for Bahrain is still in force. Those who plan to visit the country should monitor the situation and exercise caution. Those who are already there should attend to their personal safety and avoid places where there are demonstrations or large gatherings of people.
A government spokesman said, "Since the issue of the amber OTA on February 16, the Immigration Department has not received any enquiry or any request for assistance."
The Security Bureau is closely monitoring the situation in Bahrain and will raise the alert level if necessary. Any update will be issued through the media and the OTA webpage (www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota).
Residents outside Hong Kong who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline (852) 1868 of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department.
