A special set of children stamps 䩕Paper Folding Fun蒅 would be released on May 22 (Thursday), the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, announced today (May 7). Associated stamp products will also be on sale from the same day.
This set of stamps features the winning entries of the 䩕Children Stamps ﷿ Paper Folding Fun Design Competition蒅 organised by Hongkong Post in 2006 which aimed to encourage creativity through paper folding. A wonderful world unfolds in the prize-winning works shown in the stamp issue 䩕Paper Folding Fun蒅, which presents a number of icons relating to flora, fauna, festivals and the four seasons. The six stamps are Champion of Primary School Division: 䩕Bauhinia ﷿ City Flower of Hong Kong蒅 ($1.40); Champion of Secondary School Division: 䩕Bear蒅 ($1.80); Champion of Family Division: 䩕Lunar New Year Specialties and Decorations蒅 ($2.40); 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of Primary School Division: 䩕Fragrant Lotus蒅 and 䩕Flower Rainbow蒅 respectively ($2.50); 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of Secondary School Division: 䩕Adorable Koalas蒅 and 䩕Monkey and Banana蒅 respectively ($3); and 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of Family Division: 䩕Christmas蒅 and 䩕Cute Santa蒅 respectively ($5).
Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be on sale at all post offices from tomorrow (May 8). This set of stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from May 8-15.
