German poultry and poultry products import applications resumed

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (April 2) that the processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry product from Germany would resume with immediate effect.
The centre suspended processing of applications in July last year, following confirmation of a highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 case on a poultry farm in the country.
"In view of the control measures taken by Germany and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decide to resume processing of applications," a CFS spokesman said.
