Tuen Mun Hospital Influenza B Cases

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (March 10):

    Since March 3, four patients (3 male and 1 female, aged 28 to 53) of a mixed medical ward presented with fever and influenza like illness.  Appropriate tests have been arranged for the patients and three of them are positive to influenza B virus. The patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition. 

    Admission to the ward has been suspended.  Restricted visiting to and discharge from the ward is imposed.  Patients﷿ relatives have been informed about the situation.  Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up.  All other patients and the staff in the ward are under close surveillance.

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
