The Land Registry today (January 4) released the land registration statistics recorded for 2006.
The total number of sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration in the Land Registry for the period was 99,087. This represented a decrease of 19.9% compared with 2005 and 19.8% compared with 2004.
The total consideration involved in these agreements was $315.2 billion. This was down by 20.3% compared with 2005 and 10.4% compared with 2004.
During 2006, 125,983 assignments of building units were lodged for registration. This was a decrease of 19.4% compared with the 156,280 recorded during 2005 and 6.8% compared with the 135,106 recorded in 2004.
The total consideration involved, amounting to $329.67 billion, was a decrease of 17% from 2005 but up 7.8% over 2004.
Searches of land records made by people during 2006 totalled 3,958,070. This was down by 6.7% compared with 2005 but up 8% compared with 2004.
