Mainland eggs with health certificates arrive today
***************************************************

The first batch of Mainland eggs with health certificates arrived in Hong Kong via Man Kam To today (January 3), a spokesman for the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) said.

䩕The 270,000 eggs (in 750 boxes), came from Hubei,蒅 the spokesman said.

Since January 1, the Mainland has implemented a series of measures to step up control on poultry eggs, including the issuing of health certificates for eggs and egg products supplied to Hong Kong.

䩕With these new measures in place, the CFS has also stepped up liaison with relevant local and Mainland authorities concerning poultry eggs coming from improper channels. Imported Mainland eggs without health certificates will be held and tested,蒅 the spokesman said.

䩕The CFS appeals to the trade to procure products from manufacturers and exporters complying with the requirements of the Mainland authorities,蒅 the spokesman said.
