The Government today (July 6) announced that in accordance with the Articles of Association of the MTR Corporation Limited and as the majority shareholder, the Financial Secretary Incorporated has reappointed Dr Raymond Ch'ien Kuo Fung, GBS, JP, as the Chairman of the Corporation.
The reappointment of Dr Ch'ien will be effective from July 21, 2006, to July 31, 2007. Dr Ch'ien was first appointed as the Chairman of the Corporation on July 21, 2003.
Commenting on the reappointment, the Financial Secretary, Mr Henry Tang, said he was confident that under the able leadership of Dr Ch'ien, the MTR Corporation Limited would continue to provide quality transport services to the public, especially in the run-up to the merger of the MTR and KCR systems.
