The Transport Department (TD) today (June 18) reminded members of the public to pay attention to the traffic situation on Monday (June 19).
The TD spokesman noted that a number of drivers of the franchised bus companies would take industrial actions on Monday morning, the traffic situation in various districts between 10 am and noon might be affected. He called on members of the public to leave home early and be prepared for longer journey time.
"Members of the public who have to go to work, go to schools or attend public examinations should pay attention to the traffic situation during that period of time. They may need to consider using other transport modes including MTR and rail. They should also take note of the latest traffic news broadcast by the TV and radio stations," a TD spokesman said.
The TD had alerted the public transport operators, which would make special arrangements when necessary. The Department had also liaised with the Police and works departments for measures to eliminate the impact on members of the public.
The spokesman added that the TD's Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre would closely monitor the traffic situation on Monday. The Department would maintain close contacts with the Police and various public transport operators, and provide the latest traffic information to the media for broadcast.
