Tripartite team to attend International Labour Conference

    The Permanent Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, will leave for Geneva,  Switzerland, tomorrow (June 3) to attend the 95th session of the International Labour Conference.

     "The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will send a tripartite team to attend the conference as advisers and members of the Chinese delegation," a spokesman for the Labour Department said.

     "The Hong Kong team, led by Mr Cheung, will attend the plenary sessions and committee sittings of the Conference. Other members of the team include several employer and employee representatives of the Labour Advisory Board, and officials of the Labour Department."

    The conference runs from May 31 to June 16. Its agenda this year will include standard setting on occupational safety and employment relationship.

    "Through active participation in the activities of the International Labour Organisation, the Government keeps abreast of the latest developments in international labour standards and shares experience in labour policies and practices with other economies," the spokesman said.

    Labour Advisory Board members of the team include employer representatives, Mr Ho Sai-chu, Mr Paul Yin Tek-shing and Mr Stanley Lau Chin-ho; and employee representatives, Mr Felix Cheung Kwok-bui, Mr Leung Chau-ting and Mr Cheung Pak-chi.
